A revised Boston Celtics sign-and-trade proposal that still sends Grant Williams to the Dallas Mavericks would also send Pascal Siakam to the Atlanta Hawks — with five teams total being involved in a blockbuster idea from Dallas Basketball’s Dalton Trigg. The proposal reads as follows:

Mavs receive: Grant Williams, Clint Capela

Hawks receive: Pascal Siakam

Raptors receive: DeAndre Hunter, Tim Hardaway Jr., two first-round picks (from Hawks) and two second-round picks (from Mavs, rerouted from the original three-team sign-and-trade)

Spurs receive: Reggie Bullock, 2030 pick swap (from Mavs)

Celtics receive: Two second-round picks, trade exception

Ultimately, this proposal has little impact on Boston’s roster relative to the division’s post-trade appearance. Presumably, without Siakam, the Toronto Raptors would descend into definitive rebuilding territory and become a built-in Atlantic Division break on the schedule for the Cs. Atlanta, meanwhile, would have three potential All-Star talents and an opened-up paint with Clint Capela presumably swapped out for a flawed, but superior shooter in Onyeka Okongwu. Per Trigg, the Mavs’ frontcourt issues would be immediately resolved.

“Despite rookie Dereck Lively II showing promise at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Dallas’ starting center situation is still to be determined,” Trigg wrote.

The Boston Celtics have Grant Williams’ replacement in tow

As MassLive’s Brian Robb said following the Boston Celtics’ signing of Oshae Brissett, a Williams replacement was procured early on in the offseason’s free agency period.

“Brissett is still just 25 years old and has shown enough promise in Indiana to be a useful depth piece for certain matchups,” Robb prefaced before saying, “He is also conceivably a very low-cost Grant Williams replacement (and a far worse shooter) if the team loses him via free agency or a sign-and-trade.”

The Celtics are set to lose Williams, and acquiring more assets than the second-round picks Brad Stevens is collecting for a “larger” deal doesn’t appear to be a priority with Brissett having been found as a low-cost replacement for No. 12.
