Is it possible for Boston Celtics to pair Jayson Tatum with MVP center?

The Boston Celtics are always looking for improvements and are never satisfied with their roster. The Marcus Smart trade is a perfect example of this.

In terms of star players, there are rumblings that Philadephia 76ers center Joel Embiid may seek a trade in the near future. Ultimately, I wonder if the C’s could pair Embiid with Jayson Tatum.

Embiid is the reigning MVP of the league, and he is without a doubt a top-five player currently. The Celtics could be in the market for his services as there are no current negotiations with forward Jaylen Brown. Combine this with the fact that James Harden may leave the 76ers, and the Tatum/Embiid pairing could become a reality. If both players lose their running mates, the stars could align for them suiting up together.

Whether or not this happens will be determined by Embiid, as he would need to demand a trade. If he were to demand a trade, I think the Celtics would be number one on his list because he is great friends with Tatum. The two have worked out together, and they have developed a strong bond. The way Tatum and Embiid have interacted over the years is reminiscent of other star pairings.

Jayson Tatum and Joel Embiid would form an all-time Boston Celtics pairing

Although Embiid is not in green yet, I think it’s interesting to wonder how good they could be together. I think that Tatum and Embiid would be the closest thing we’ve seen to Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant because of their skill sets and how they would play off each other.

The duo would be without a doubt the best in the league, and it’s hard to imagine them not dominating the league immediately.

Ultimately, it will be interesting to see what happens with Embiid’s situation with the 76ers and whether the Celtics come calling if/when things go south in Philadelphia.
