Grade the Trade: Celtics land Damian Lillard in mock 3-team blockbuster: Celtics grade
Finally, this deal would be an insane trade for the Boston Celtics, as they would be sending out four potential rotation pieces for a superstar in hopes that Jayson Tatum can convince Damian Lillard to join forces.
Incoming: Damian Lillard, Richaun Holmes
Outgoing: Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, Grant Williams (S&T), Payton Pritchard, Three first-round picks, Two first-round pick swaps
Adding Lillard to the mix would give the Celtics a new Big 4 in town, as he would team up with Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis to form what would certainly be considered a Super Team.
Richaun Holmes would come into town and provide them with some big man depth, as they’d be giving up Robert Williams and Grant Williams in this deal.
Giving up four firsts and two pick swaps would see Boston go all in on the move, however, so they would have to be sure Lillard would be willing to suit up and play for them.
Boston would also be trading a bunch of solid contracts for one massive contract, giving them very little room to work with under the new CBA in regard to the rest of their roster.
However, if Tatum is passionate about bringing Lillard to the Celtics and can convince him to suit up in green, this could be a move that’s just crazy enough to work out.
Not only would the Celtics land Lillard, but they wouldn’t have to go up against him on a team like the Miami Heat or Brooklyn Nets – two rumored potential destinations for the superstar.
