3. Orlando Magic

The Magic are another team with cap space that has been linked to Grant Williams. They are projected to have $22 million in room and already have a full roster. Orlando has to find spots for lottery picks Anthony Black and Jett Howard. They can clear some space by declining options or letting go of players on non-guaranteed contracts, but what are the Magic willing to offer Grant Williams?

They already have Franz Wagner and Paolo Bachero to play the three and the four. Could they sign Williams to play the backup forward minutes and even get a few behind Wendell Carter Jr. as a small-ball five? Williams would be capped at 26 to 30 minutes per game when everyone is healthy.

The Magic would offer a similar role to the Celtic, and they are not in serious contention. The money would have to be the driving factor for this deal. Is Orlando willing to offer $20 million per season for a reserve? That is a hefty price, but the Magic have a young roster that can afford it.

Could the Orlando Magic steal Grant Williams from the Boston Celtics in free agency? The two sides would likely work out a sign-and-trade that helped Orlando clear a roster spot and gave Boston a trade exception or rotation piece. The Magic should be considered a real suitor, but they are not the most likely team to land the 6’6 forward.
