I’m not sure the Boston Celtics would want to try to make a big polarizing move in free agency, especially at the point guard position, but if they wanted to get whacky they could target Russell Westbrook. He’s an unrestricted free agent that could be looking for a new home. Even more so if the Clippers end up pursuing a deal for another veteran point guard – they were reportedly interested in Chris Paul before he was curiously traded to the Golden State Warriors.

Russ is one of the most hated and loved players in the NBA. There really isn’t much in-between for him. Love him or hate him, he’s either at 100 or at zero. While I don’t believe Russ would be a good fit at all on this team, the idea of him running a super second unit, though, does intrigue me to a certain extent.

If this coaching staff is able to reel him in and get him to play within the system (and surround him with shooters), it could work. During his final stretch with the LA Clippers, Russ averaged 16 points, seven assists, and five rebounds per game on 36 percent shooting from 3-point range.
