With the Washington Wizards undergoing a complete rebuild, now that they have traded Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis, and that it’s unlikely they’ll re-sign Kyle Kuzma, there’s probably a good chance that the team could also look to move Monte Morris before the start of the 2023-24 NBA season. Morris is heading into the final year of his contract with the Wizards and is unlikely to be considered a big part of the team’s future.

If the Boston Celtics were looking for depth in the backcourt, perhaps they could make another call to the Wizards and explore what the asking price would be for Morris. The 27-year-old guard is coming off a season in which he averaged 10 points and five assists on 38 percent shooting from 3-point range. Morris has been a starter in each of his last two seasons in the NBA, so he’s proven he can be a consistent player in that role as well.

With a relatively low salary number for next season ($9.8 million), the Celtics could easily swing a move for Morris. What the Celtics have to like most about the prospect of Morris is the fact that he’s a guard that doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective, while also being an underrated playmaker.
