T.J. McConnell, Indiana Pacers

If the Boston Celtics were looking for another backup option, one of the NBA’s best backup point guards could be available for the right price. T.J. McConnell has been a mainstay for the Indiana Pacers in recent years but if they could cash him in for an asset, you’d have to think that they would do so. And you’d have to imagine that the Celtics, if they wanted, could flip a protected future first-round pick to the Pacers in exchange for some depth in the backcourt. In this instance, McConnell.

As difficult as it may be to believe, McConnell is just 31 years old and has been one of the most consistent backup guards over the past three seasons for the Pacers. He’s coming off a season in which he averaged nine points and five assists on 44 percent shooting from 3-point range. In addition to his consistent on-court production for a backup guard, McConnel has also been consistently healthy throughout his career.

He’s played in at least 69 games in seven of his eight seasons in the league. For a Celtics team that could be looking for not only depth but dependable depth, McConnell could present one of the better realistic trade options for the team this offseason.
