Under-the-radar Boston Celtics player fans should monitor in offseason
The Boston Celtics offseason is in full swing, and before you know it, Summer League will be here. The Celtics summer league players will be important to follow this summer because of the new CBA rules that will force teams to find diamond-in-the-rough players. Boston desperately needs to find these kinds of players with the impending contract extension for star forward Jaylen Brown.
One player that will be on the Celtics summer league team that is intriguing is guard JD Davison.
Davison was drafted 53rd overall by the C’s a year ago, and he spent the majority of the season on the Maine Celtics. Davison had an impressive season in the G League, as he averaged 13.2 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. He also shot 51% from the field. Davison has a strong skillset that fits nicely with his speed and athleticism.
The passing ability that Davison possesses makes him an interesting player for the Celtics because he could become a good fit playing next to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Recently, Davison was seen working on his three-point shooting, which is a positive sight. If Davison can have a consistent jump shot, he will be on the Boston Celtics roster, and he could see minutes in the rotation.
JD Davison can be a Boston Celtics rotation player next season
Davison is the most intriguing player to watch this offseason for the Celtics because he could blossom into a rotation player sooner than later. With looming decisions to be made at the guard position and the potential departure of Payton Pritchard, Davison could have an opportunity for an enhanced role next season.
I hope to see more improvement from Davison as the offseason progresses because the raw talent is there.
As Summer League approaches, Celtics fans should be locked in on Davison.
