1. Los Angeles Lakers

If Chris Paul is set on returning to Los Angeles, the Lakers are the obvious pick. His longtime friend LeBron James would welcome a ball-handler that can take some of the pressure off him. The Lakers were just in the conference finals and needed another creator as they swept by the Nuggets.

Los Angeles will have money to offer this summer. How much depends on who they bring back from their roster. Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura are rumored to be their top priorities, but they will likely have interest in Dennis Schroder, Lonnie Walker IV, and D’Angelo Russell too. Even if they bring back all of those options, they will still have the taxpayer mid-level exception to hand out in free agency.

The Lakers just won the championship in 2020, and they would certainly be formidable with Chris Paul flanking LeBron and Anthony Davis. Does LA add another health question mark to their roster at point guard? CP3 will be cheaper and more effective in the playoffs than Russell, assuming he is healthy, and that alone could be the difference.

Will the Suns waive Chris Paul? Can they find a trade first? Does he end up with the Boston Celtics next season? The answers will come quickly, so stay tuned for all the latest.
