1 bad, 1 great, and 1 fair Boston Celtics trade package for Jaylen Brown
By Seth Quinn
Boston Celtics’ too-much trade package
This trade package is one that the Boston Celtics would more likely offer than receive, hence the package being too much for a worthy trade package for Brown.
In this trade, the Celtics would be receiving a star guard in return in Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, who made All-NBA 1st Team this season. Given SGA signed an extension recently and still has a few years left on his contract, he will have a few more years before a potential Supermax extension, contrary to Brown.
The Celtics would also be receiving Josh Giddey and Luguentz Dort, two young, inexpensive role players who have proven capable of being high-level starters. Giddey has the traits of a true point guard with his playmaking, while Dort has shown to be a good 3-and-D wing player.
The Thunder would consider doing this trade because they want more experienced players and to be less guard heavy. They would still have plenty of first-rounders to add to the roster, but this trade in theory would be a win-now move.
The Celtics would be getting the higher value in this trade, as they are getting younger, better, and cheaper contracts in this trade. All the Thunder really get out of this trade is a different look and more experience, something they can achieve in other more beneficial ways.
