2. Draymond Green
Will Draymond even become a free agent this summer? The four-time All-Star has a $27.5 million player option for next season. He made it clear that he wants to remain with Golden State, but the Dubs have plenty of financial challenges that lie ahead. If Green opts out to secure a long-term deal, will the Warriors be able to give it to him?
It is unclear how things will play out. If Draymond wants to stay with the only NBA team that he has played for, his best bet is opting in on his player option. Will he do that or look for a long-term deal?
Green has been part of Team USA on two Olympic gold medal-winning squads, including 2020 with Jayson Tatum. The Celtics star has talked about his close friendship with the four-time NBA champion, and Tatum was even spotted at Draymond’s wedding.
If Draymond Green leaves the Golden State Warriors, he is going to want to compete for a championship. Boston has reached the conference finals five times in seven years, and the former Defensive Player of the Year could be the piece that helps them get over the hump and propels Tatum to win his first NBA championship. Consider it unlikely, but their friendship could push the Celtics into acquiring Green if he becomes available.
