7. Mason Plumlee

Plumlee is an unrestricted free agent this summer after finishing the season with the LA Clippers. The 33-year-old is best suited for a backup role at this point in his career, but he offers a unique skill set.

Plumlee scored 1.19 points per possession as a roll man during his time in Charlotte last season, and that jumped to 1.57 points per possession with the Clippers. The six-foot-11 big man is a strong playmaker and rebounder that is likely looking for a new home this summer.

Plumlee played four years for Duke from 2009 to 2013, so he was gone before Jayson Tatum arrived in Durham. They were teammates on Team USA at the 2019 FIBA World Cup, but Tatum was limited to just two games because of a sprained ankle. Team USA shockingly placed seventh in the event, which was their lowest finish ever in a World Cup.

Plumlee helped the Nuggets reach the conference finals inside the bubble, but he is still chasing that elusive first ring. The 33-year-old figures to get plenty of interest on the free agent market, and he is free to sign with any team. Will the veteran prioritize contending for a title or maximizing his earnings?

If Mason Plumlee goes ring chasing this summer, he could sign with the Boston Celtics on a minimum contract to be the team’s reserve center.
