The Boston Celtics need to give Miami a taste of their own medicine

The Boston Celtics are fighting for their playoff lives in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight, and they have a chance to apply real pressure on the Miami Heat. Since Game 4, the Heat have spoken to the media and dropped material that they usually love to take advantage of on other teams. The Celtics should use these quotes as fuel to give the Heat a taste of their own medicine.

The first quote that stuck out to me is from Jimmy Butler in his press conference following Game 4. Butler called his shot that the Heat will win Game 4. Boston should look to take advantage of this quote, and I hope they take it personally. It’s somewhat surprising that Butler would give this Boston Celtics team bulletin board material considering they are already a good team when their back is against the wall this postseason.

The other quote is from Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra as he said that they don’t care that they are the underdogs. This verbiage is important because it shows that the Heat are listening to the chatter in the media. The Celtics can use this quote to their advantage as they can show why they are the favorites.

The Boston Celtics can send the Eastern Conference Finals back to Miami with pressure for the Heat

Ultimately, I think the Boston Celtics have a chance to swing the momentum tonight and apply full pressure on the Heat. Now that we know that the Heat is listening to the chatter, it will only rise as the series continues. If the Celtics continue to extend the series, it could rattle the Heat as they try to avoid being the first team to blow a 3-0 lead in NBA history.

The Celtics have to come out and strike first if they want to take Game 5 and take back the momentum in the series.
