Analyst rips unforgivable Boston Celtics-Warriors Jaylen Brown proposal
For reasons unbeknownst to just about anyone else on the planet, FS1 host Colin Cowherd concocted a mock trade proposal — with mock never being more apt than in this scenario — which would see the Boston Celtics send Jaylen Brown and Malcolm Brogdon to the Warriors for Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins. No draft picks were mentioned — which would surely be needed to have Brad Stevens not lose Bob Myers’ number. No sense at all.
In response, NESN’s Jason Ounpraseuth called the unforgivable proposal “half-baked” while also acknowledging that change in some form could be coming should the Celtics not knock off the 76ers in Game 6, then force and win a Game 7.
“If Boston does get eliminated in the Eastern Conference semifinals, there should be change to the team, but this half-baked trade idea just is not it,” Ounpraseuth wrote.
What makes Colin Cowherd’s Boston Celtics-Warriors Jaylen Brown trade suggestion unforgivable
Cowherd’s suggestion is so one-sided it may be borderline offensive how little he thinks of the Boston Celtics front office thinking that they’d ever entertain such a franchise-crippling offer. Brown is likely the top option on the trade block should he end up there during the offseason and Brogdon was just named the Sixth Man of the Year.
To package them both to get back a player in Poole, whose previously average 3-point shooting plummeted below 34% in 2022-23, and Wiggins, who was MIA for more than half the season, holds no logic behind it whatsoever.
Again, if there was a boatload of picks heading Boston’s way, and Brogdon wasn’t on the table, this would be something potentially worthy of consideration should Brown make it clear he won’t re-sign with the Celtics long-term.
Since that scenario was never addressed by the radio host, though, we can assume that the deal presented was the proposal in mind.
The Houdini offers the hardest of passes in solidarity with Ounpraseuth.
