The Boston Celtics are 48 minutes away from either the Eastern Conference semifinals to face the 76ers or from returning to the TD Garden for an unfathomable winner-take-all finale after stunningly failing to close the door on a defiant Hawks team. Game 6 has plenty of gravity.

Boston had a fourth-quarter lead in Game 5 but saw Trae Young ice the Cs in the final seconds from way downtown to force another faceoff at the State Farm arena. 119-117 in favor of Atlanta was the absolute last result the Houdini, and practically everyone else, expected.

Despite the disappointment — and the fact that the Hawks have taken two of the last three games — sportsbooks are still favoring the Celtics. Is that deserved? Only Game 6 knows the answer to that question.

Boston Celtics vs Atlanta Hawks Prediction

While it was believed that Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson have helped instill a malaise when it comes to the regular season on Boston’s core that teamed with them both, it seems as though the early stages of the postseason are included.

Boston had Atlanta beat in Game 5 and simply let it slip away due to a lack of execution in the contest’s closing minutes. With the chance to assert themselves as the clear team to beat in the east, the Celtics showed they still have issues.

Luckily no team is perfect this season, and despite their imperfections, Boston is still too good to continue letting the Hawks stick around.
