Boston Celtics beat reporter Jay King of The Athletic spoke too soon on April 16 ahead of the final game of the NBA’s first day of the 2023 NBA postseason slate — saying the Kings would get “flattened” by the Warriors before defeating Golden State 126-123 in Sacramento.

This take was swiftly met with a barrage of NBA fans who put King in his place for what turned out to be a freezing cold take:

Boston Celtics off to ‘strong’ playoff start after historic Game 1 victory vs Hawks

Shifting gears to a more one-sided beatdown, the Boston Celtics got off to a “strong start” to the 2023 postseason according to NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg — who noted the history the Cs made in their 112-99 victory over the Hawks on April 15.

“The Boston Celtics’ 2023 playoff run got off to a strong start on Saturday,” Forsberg prefaced before saying, “Other than a rocky stretch in the second half, the C’s looked sharp in Game 1 of their first-round series vs. the Atlanta Hawks. They shot 47.7 percent from the floor and held the Hawks to just 38.8 percent in a 112-99 victory at TD Garden. Boston’s 30-point lead at the half (74-44) tied for its largest halftime lead in team playoff history. The C’s also tied the playoff record for most points scored in the second quarter with 45.”

Game 2 takes place Tuesday at 7PM in the TD Garden.
