Handing out regular season awards to the 2022-23 Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics Rookie of the Year: JD Davison
Boston only boasted one rookie this season, so Davison wins this award by default.
The 20-year-old Alabama product showed flashes of promise this season, most notably dropping 8 points and 3 assists in 35 minutes off the bench during Boston’s season finale.
The rookie point guard showcased serious playmaking potential during his time in the G-League.
With the Maine Celtics, Davison played 26 games and came off the bench for 25 of them. The youngster averaged 12.5 points and 8.7 assists on 50.4% shooting from the field.
During his limited minutes with Boston, Davison ran the floor quite well and showcased a clear knack for pick-and-roll execution.
Although Davison’s jump shot definitely needs improvement, his intangibles and IQ seem fairly high for a 20-year-old, which should bode well for him down the road.
While Davison probably won’t see the floor in the upcoming playoffs outside of garbage time, the two-way rookie’s future is brighter than people realize.
