4. James Posey

In 2007, the Celtics signed two-way player James Posey to a two-year, $7 million deal to complete the team’s roster. This underrated signing allowed Boston to strengthen their need for a wing defender on a roster ready to contend for a title. Little did the C’s know, this signing would be even bigger than imagined.

The Xavier alum provided the Celtics with crucial minutes in their championship run in 2008. After winning his second NBA championship with the Celtics, Posey elected to decline his player option with the team and sign a four-year, $25 million deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. In 74 games with the C’s, the forward averaged 7.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

Despite his short stay in Boston, Celtics fans will always remember Posey for his contribution to the team’s title run.
