3 Boston Celtics who have earned roles on the 2023-24 squad

Boston Celtics player who has earned 2023-24 role No. 2: Mike Muscala
Mike Muscala was a trade deadline acquisition for the Celtics this season to fill a void at backup center. With the teams focus on finding a backup big who could stretch the floor, Muscala did more than fit the bill.
In his time with Boston, Muscala has played a limited role but with willingness. The NBA journeyman is only averaging 4.9 points per game, 2.9 rebounds per game, and 0.4 assists per game. Although the stats aren’t flashy, the 31-year-old has provided solid minutes for the Celtics when his name has been called upon. Despite the small role, consistency from the bottom of the bench is an underrated skill in this league.
The six-foot-11 big man could be the perfect piece to bring back next season to play a serviceable role for the team behind Al Horford and Robert Williams III. If Muscala is willing to buy into a role with a championship contender next season, a cheap veteran deal with the Celtics could be ideal for the Bucknell product.
Depending on the decision Stevens and the front office make on Grant Williams’ future and the return of Danilo Gallinari from injury next season, Muscala will likely be a viable option to return.
