Jaylen Brown’s 41 points were key to the Boston Celtics’ 137-93 destruction of the Spurs at the TD Garden on March 26, and as No. 7 checked out of the game with 6:34 remaining in the fourth quarter, Celtics fans rose to their feet and showered Brown with a massive ovation.

Brown tried to play cool about it after the game, but he did add that he doesn’t take these kinds of moments for granted (h/t Boston.com).

“Since I’ve been here in Boston, I’ve always taken pride in doing what I’ve been asked to do,” Brown said. “Whatever challenge there’s been, I’ve always met that challenge with excitement and a willingness to be a part of a team. When you get an opportunity to be the guy that everybody is kind of leaning on, it’s a privilege, it’s an honor. So I don’t take those moments for granted.”

Boston Celtics’ sixth man believes Jaylen Brown is the best SG in the NBA

Malcolm Brogdon, who had 20 points, nine assists, and five rebounds in 26 minutes on Sunday, commented on Brown after the game — and the 2022 offseason blockbuster trade addition gave Brown the highest of praise.

“He’s the best shooting guard in the league,” Brogdon said. “He’ll be All-NBA, he’ll make one of the team’s this year. His game really speaks for itself.”

Brown could receive a contract that starts at 35% of the 2024-25 salary cap and contain 8% annual raises should he be named to an All-NBA team following this season or next.

Jaylen Brown comments on protective mask

Brown suffered a facial contusion after an elbow from Jayson Tatum during a 106-99 victory over the 76ers on February 8, causing him to don a Batman-esque mask. The 26-year-old updated the status of the mask after the Spurs win.

“I guess technically I got like a couple more days until I don’t have to wear it anymore if I didn’t want to,” Brown said to the press scrum. “But if you want to be safe, they say you keep wearing it. My mom wants me to wear it, so I’ll probably keep wearing it.”

Mask or not, Brown has been tearing up the Association to the tune of 27 points, seven rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game during the 2022-23 season.
