Sir Charles in Charge’s Michael Saenz believes the Boston Celtics could part ways with Jaylen Brown if Banner 18 isn’t raised from the rafters of the TD Garden at the beginning of the 2023-24 season.

That led to Saenz coming up with five potential landing spots, but the Sir Charles in Charge writer only came up with a specific proposal for one team: the Grizzlies. In Saenz’ proposal, the Celtics would swap Brown for two Memphis forwards who are due for new contracts over the next two offseasons.

“(Brown would) be great next to Ja Morant and would give this team a legit scoring threat at the small forward position next to Desmond Bane,” Saenz wrote. “Memphis has a big decision to make with Dillon Brooks this season and a similar one soon after with Bane. Maybe the Grizzlies elect to pair them up and send them to Boston for Brown?”

Why Jaylen Brown mock trades from the Boston Celtics are all the rage right now

A very popular topic right now across NBA circles far and wide is projecting where Brown might land if/when the Boston Celtics trade him in the offseason. But many of you may be wondering why that is.

The answer is simple: Brown left the door open for his departure from Boston in an interview with The Ringer’s Logan Murdock.

“I don’t know. As long as I’m needed. It’s not up to me,” Brown told Murdock. “We’ll see how they feel about me over time and I feel about them over time. Hopefully, whatever it is, it makes sense. But I will stay where I’m wanted. I will stay where I’m needed and treated correct.”

It’s hard not to read into those comments and understand that he’s likely referring to the continuous Kevin Durant trade rumors that were strongest last summer but even resurfaced during the 2023 trade deadline before KD ended up on the Suns.
