Fans of Jayson Tatum will know that he has an incredibly close relationship with his mother, Brandy Cole. During Wednesday night’s win over Portland, which happened to fall on International Women’s Day, he chose to celebrate her by sporting a specific colorway of his new signature shoe.

The shoe features a Calla Lily theme, his mother’s favorite color. Tatum retweeted a descriptor of the shoe, dubbing the colorway “Momma’s Boy.”

Jayson Tatum has been open about his love for his mother before, and she can almost always be seen sitting courtside at TD Garden with Jayson’s son and fan favorite, Deuce. Both were in attendance last night, and Deuce even gave Grant Williams a gnarly box-out in pre-game warmups.

The Boston Celtics also celebrated the holiday with multiple posts of their own, joining the NBA in celebrating the women on their staff and around the world.

The Tatum 1s will be available this summer. The self-named “Mommas Boy” colorway is not expected to hit the market. Instead, colorways for sale will include “Pink Lemonade,” “Zoo,” “St. Louis,” and “Barber Shop.”

Jayson Tatum comments on Tatum 1s

Tatum is a big fan of the Tatum 1s’ colorways. “I am very excited about the overall aesthetic and how lightweight it is, but I love the colorways,” he said (h/t NBC Sports Boston).

There is continuity from his previous Jordan Brand shoe releases, he reveals, and it’s something he hopes has fans excited for. “We were able to stay consistent in terms of bringing some of my previous Air Jordan PEs to the first colorways of my signature shoe, giving fans the opportunity to wear what they already like,” he said.

The shoes, Tatum says, are a direct reflection of him. “That’s what I hope people see and feel.”
