Kyrie Irving’s trade to the Dallas Mavericks on February 5 has the Brooklyn Nets on the verge of a teardown and the NBA world trying to prognosticate a Kevin Durant trade. Not surprisingly, the Boston Celtics are once again being linked to a possible KD deal.

Last offseason, the rumor mill was a steady dose of Jaylen Brown being linked in a possible Durant swap. Now, with Brown being listed as inactive with an illness against the Detroit Pistons on a Monday, February 6 matchup on the road, there is a tangible hysteria that a Brown-Durant deal is imminent.

CelticsBlog’s Keith Smith had an anxiously sarcastic reaction to what the fallout could be from the news of Brown’s absence:

Others couldn’t help but assume something was brewing — and respond accordingly with the infamous eyes emoji — with the week of the trade deadline a time to sit players out in order to preserve their trade value ahead of a potential deal:

Then there was Underdog NBA, who whipped out the Brian Windhorst diverging pointer finger meme to further speculate on where the never-ending Nets drama could lead to next:

The Boston Celtics are a longshot to land Kevin Durant

The betting odds (via Odds Shark) for the Boston Celtics to land Kevin Durant are the fourth highest, but are mighty long at +1400 (bet $100 to profit $1400). Those are the same odds as the Golden State Warriors landing him to give you an idea of how long of a shot that is.

The Phoenix Suns are the current favorites, with -125 (bet $125 to win $100) odds, and the Toronto Raptors are right behind them with +200 odds. Durant being traded is seemingly imminent given the heavy -200 odds for him to be moved by the deadline.

Just remember that Brown won’t be part of the deal if/when that happens.
