Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens would hang up on Bob Myers if the Golden State Warriors gave the Cs a call regarding James Wiseman and basically any piece on their roster.

The Warriors have registered interest in Payton Pritchard, making the possibility of a Wiseman-Pritchard swap one well within reason. But unless Kevon Looney’s on the table, giving the reigning NBA champions a potential glove-fit shooter for their backcourt is a non-starter.

MassLive’s Brian Robb shut down the possibility of the Boston Celtics taking on the former No. 2 pick at the upcoming February 9 trade deadline in answering a reader’s question in his latest Celtics Mailbag about Wiseman in green:

"“Celtics hang up on that offer right away. Wiseman looks like a bust at this point so you don’t give up a first round pick and a useful bench player for a guy who is not bringing anything to the table at this point of his career.”"

Who the Boston Celtics would trade Payton Pritchard for

Giving up Payton Pritchard could have serious financial ramifications in the long-run. His restricted free agency in 2024 could see him retained at a bargain rate due to his size, but just about everyone else on the roster who could fit into the long-term plans of the team will likely cost a pretty penny.

Derrick White and Malcolm Brogdon are each under contract for at least $17 million the next three seasons after this one and Grant Williams could be due for a similarly priced contract. Things are about to get expensive real quick in Boston.

Trading Pritchard must be for the absolutely perfect fit, and some guys out there could qualify for that role. Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels on the Timberwolves would make plenty of sense if Minnesota wanted to balance the two teams’ rosters. Indiana Pacers wing Oshae Brissett would be an interesting name if the Cs wanted to shift their attention to a wing.
