Boston Celtics interviewees revealed for Bill Russell: Legend
Following the death of Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell on July 31, 2022, a documentary is being released on Netflix on February 8, the day before the NBA trade deadline — and it’ll include a star-studded cast comprised of Celtics greats of the past and present.
Current Cs MVP candidate Jayson Tatum, former Celtics MVP candidate Isaiah Thomas, and 3x regular season and NBA Finals MVP Larry Bird will all be discussing their relationships with No. 6 and celebrating his life in the documentary “Bill Russell: Legend.” In addition, Steph Curry, Chris Paul, and Magic Johnson will all be interviewed as well.
Here was the official synopsis of the film (h/t The Playlist):
"“The remarkable life and legacy of an NBA superstar and civil rights icon is captured in the documentary Bill Russell: Legend. This two-part film from award-winning director Sam Pollard (MLK/FBI, Lowndes County and the Road to Black Power) features the last interview with Bill prior to his passing in 2022 as well as access to his sprawling personal archives.”“Narrated by actors Jeffrey Wright and Corey Stoll and featuring exclusive interviews with the icon’s family and friends as well as Steph Curry, Chris Paul, “Magic” Johnson, Larry Bird, Jim Brown and more, Bill Russell: Legend illuminates the ways in which Russell stood tall in every sense of the word.”"
The Boston Celtics just lost first game in the Bill Russell City Edition Uniforms
Up until January 24, the Boston Celtics had won every game they had played in their Bill Russell City Edition uniform during the 2022-23 season — one that features a gold motif ‘symbolizing his incomparable career.’ The Miami Heat ended that winning streak, though, handing the Cs a nail-biting 98-95 loss that came down to the last shot, or rather, possession that ended in a turnover.
Despite the loss, Boston is honoring Russell’s legacy with a season that looks like it could end in another championship.
