Steph Curry continues to haunt the Boston Celtics here in 2023.

Seven months after knocking the Celtics out of the NBA Finals with his first Finals MVP performance, the 4x All-NBA First Team floor general Curry hit an unfathomable buzzer-beater on January 19 to give the Warriors a 55-54 lead heading into halftime.

Here was Curry’s half-court heave that gave him 15 points during the first half of the first matchup in Boston between the two since Golden State won its seventh title on the TD Garden floor last June:

The Boston Celtics and Warriors may not make for compatible trade partners

Given the Golden State Warriors’ public interest in trading for Payton Pritchard, it’s possible that the 2022 Finals rivals could meet at the negotiating table and come up with a deal to fill the Celtics’ holes.

Kevon Looney is an ideal target, but the Warriors may not want to part with a longtime member of its core. James Wiseman could be an intriguing target, but if he hasn’t yet worked out in the Bay Area, there may not be much of a fit in Boston.

Elsewhere on the roster, Golden State would likely be willing to part with Anthony Lamb, but the Cs already have Grant Williams doing a lot of the same things on the floor at a much higher level. Donte DiVincenzo was once a target, but he doesn’t fit the desire to add a big defensive wing.

Things get very interesting if the Warriors are willing to dangle Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, or Patrick Baldwin Jr. According to CBS Sports’ Brad Botkin, none of the Dubs’ young guns are on the table.

Perhaps JaMychal Green could be on the table, but he isn’t a needle-mover worth dealing Pritchard for. There’s not the clearest path to a deal, though, so monitor this rumor, but don’t get hung up on it.
