Former Boston Celtics championship center ripped Tom Brady during playoff loss
A large overlap of Boston Celtics fans are also New England Patriots fans, meaning that Kendrick Perkins’ insults hurled at Tom Brady during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ blowout postseason loss to the Dallas Cowboys were by and large welcomed.
Brady famously ditched Massachusetts in 2020 when he signed in Tampa following a successful run with Bill Belichick that turned sour in its final season. He won a Super Bowl the following February but struggled during the 2022 season amidst a public split from Giselle Bundchen.
On Monday, January 16, Brady put up big stats — 35/66 passing with 351 passing yards and two touchdowns certainly looks good on paper — but his Bucs were never competitive against the Cowboys. That led to Perkins calling Brady a ‘whole senior citizen’ on Twitter:
Former Boston Celtics championship center Kendrick Perkins famously feuded with Draymond Green
Not long after Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors knocked off the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals, Green took to his own podcast, The Draymond Green Show,’ to viciously call out Kendrick Perkins (h/t Sports Illustrated):
"“It is the smallest edge that wins someone the NBA Finals. And because of all these dumb talking heads that never done it, they don’t understand it, even the one that has done it don’t acts like he’s done it because he’s an idiot and a moron and wasn’t really that good of a player. I’m talking about Kendrick Perkins, by the way.”"
Perkins, of course, was not going to let that go without a response:
"“Hey, Draymond, you good? What the f— wrong with you? Didn’t you just win your fourth championship? What the f— you worried about me for? You mad? You mad cause I’m doing it my way and it’s happened to work? I’m doing it my way. I ain’t gotta do it your way. I’m doing it MY way.”"
Perkins is clearly still pushing the envelope, though it’s not expected that Tom Brady will engage in the same sort of firefight Green provoked.
