The Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls battle for the fourth and final time during the 2022-23 season on Monday, January 9 at the TD Garden. A shot at three straight wins and top-record bragging rights on the line.

Boston took care of business in what turned out to be a nail-biter against the San Antonio Spurs — a matchup that was more important than many realize to win — this past Saturday and now looks to even the season series with Chicago in their first home game of the calendar year.

The Bulls have done a bit of winning themselves as of late, conquering the mighty Brooklyn Nets and winning their last three games against teams currently in postseason contention — though it’s not for long we’ll likely be describing the Utah Jazz that way.

For Chicago, underachievement and ill-fitting stars have been the modus operandi during the current campaign. Without Lonzo Ball running the point, the Bulls have been lost since the middle of the 2021-22 season and have gotten good, but not great, showings from DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, and co. Mediocrity is not a place for any NBA team, though, let alone one with a nearly $150 million payroll.

Without Ball for the foreseeable future, Chicago has tough choices to make; either start winning now or tear it down. Is it time for the winds of change to blow in the Windy City after a Cs domination? Or can the Bulls wipe away that conversation with their fourth straight win? Hardwood Houdini has your odds and a prediction for the Monday battle between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls on NBC Sports Boston, NBC Sports Chicago, and NBA TV (all odds provided by WynnBET):

Boston Celtics vs. Chicago Bulls odds, spread

The Celtics are 8.5-point favorites against the Bulls at home. Chicago is a +280 road underdog while Boston’s ML is set at -365. The over/under for the game has been placed at 237 points.

Celtics vs. Bulls prediction

The Houdini believes Boston is a wagon and that the Bulls are a mess. Not sure how else to describe the heavy spread lean tonight.

Pick: Celtics -8.5 (-110)
