The Boston Celtics were given a sizable spread to cover on Saturday, January 7 when they travel to the AT&T Center in San Antonio to take on the Spurs — a squad that is coming off a win over the Detroit Pistons in the first night of a back-to-back Friday night.

While the Spurs’ record is representative of a team squarely in the middle of the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes, they still are a Gregg Popovich-coached unit. That alone makes them competitive from the first buzzer until the talent discrepancy against their foes kicks in.

The thing is, though, that it might never kick in against the Celtics.
