After two weeks of miserable basketball, the Boston Celtics look to be back on the right track.

Tuesday’s 126-102 victory over the Houston Rockets marked the third straight for the Cs. They’ve put together a much needed response after starting the current homestand with three straight losses.

What was a stagnant offense is now very dynamic, with the ball popping all around and players taking and making wide open looks. Boston has also been getting strong performances from superstar forwards Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Jayson Tatum calls out fans, media after Boston Celtics blowout

After Tuesday’s blowout win, Tatum had some words for the fans and media, saying:

"“Last year y’all wanted to trade one of us, now you’re saying Mike and Scottie. We’re not as bad as you said but we’re not as good as Mike and Scottie.”"

The 24-year-old has a point. Last season when things weren’t exactly going swimming for the Boston Celtics, the talk of the town was that one of the two Jays had to be traded. Those conversations were always pretty ridiculous because the two had shown in past years that they were able to be successful alongside one another. At the time, they had already played in two Eastern Conference Finals in their brief time playing together, with Brown being a part of a third run back in 2017 before Tatum was drafted.

Tuesday’s dominant victory over the Rockets included one of the best performances that the pair has put together in Boston. Both of the Jays were just shy of 40 points on the night, with Brown scoring 39 and Tatum adding 38 of his own. For the season, Tatum is fifth in the NBA for points per game with 31.1 and Brown isn’t far behind at 14th with 27 a night.

Those averages have the pair pouring in the most points per game by any duo in NBA history. They’re averaging over a point more per game than Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal did in the 2000-2001 season.

It’s safe to say that the duo is deserving of lacing them up for the NBA All Star game in Utah this season. To ensure that they make the cut, cast your vote on NBA.com.
