Boston Celtics lottery pick thriving with San Antonio Spurs

The Boston Celtics included Romeo Langford in last season’s trade deadline day deal for San Antonio’s Derrick White. White has since proven to be a key piece for Boston. In 54 regular season games for the Celtics, the 28-year-old has averaged 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists. White has also been a solid defender, able to guard multiple positions to give the team flexibility. He has looked more comfortable in green this season, where he’s shot the ball much better. The affectionately nicknamed “Buffalo” has made 41% of his attempts from beyond the arc through the first 27 games of the year.

Langford is a part of a San Antonio team that is amongst the league’s worst squads. Their 9-18 record is the fifth worst in the NBA, putting them right in the mix as teams battle for the top pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. That being said, it’s a great place for the fourth-year wing to get some run.

He’s averaging a career high in minutes at about 20 per game, points at just under seven a night, and field goal percentage at 48%. The Indiana alumni has been even better over the last few games. Langford is putting up just under 10 points on 60% from the field and 36% from deep in his last seven outings. It’s nice to see a guy who always had potential get a steady opportunity.
