The more we talk about potential trade developments, the more the Boston Celtics distance themselves from the need to negotiate with anyone in the Association — with the wins piling up week after week.

Still, up until the trade deadline, names will be tossed around. In his latest Celtics Mailbag, MassLive’s Brian Robb discussed the possibility of Boston revisiting a free agent target from this past offseason to acquire via trade.

That target is Thomas Bryant, who chose the Los Angeles Lakers over the Cs in free agency. in answering a question from a reader regarding any leftover interest, Robb squashed the idea of landing Bryant even if he becomes available as is expected considering L.A.’s struggles:

"“If the Lakers remain in no man’s land and he becomes available, taking a flier on (Thomas Bryant) in place of Noah Vonleh wouldn’t be a bad idea. However, he’s definitely not an upgrade on what Luke Kornet has brought you this season and he’s probably not even worth a second round pick at this point given his spot in the depth chart.”"

The Boston Celtics should reward the process with no trades until necessary

If it’s not broke, why fix it? Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens has the chance to honor the process every single player on the Cs roster has been through in order to secure his spot — most notably the guys at the end of the roster who earned their keep in the Summer League and preseason. Noah Vonleh has proven capable of being deployed, while Justin Jackson by and large hasn’t. Still, both guys are bringing something to a locker-room that is clicking on all cylinders between the lines.

When the postseason rolls around, the rotation will likely be nine-guys deep. If that. There’s no need to make moves that can disrupt the current situation unless an injury disrupts it first and forces Stevens’ hand.
