WATCH: Former Boston Celtics benchwarmer dominating in China
For those who sometimes stare at the calendar on a Tuesday and wonder where Tacko Fall went — Tacko Tuesdays were a staple during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 Boston Celtics seasons — the Houdini has some spectacular footage to show you.
Fall, who last played for the Utah Jazz during the 2022 Summer League from Las Vegas, is now playing for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association — a common move for NBAers hoping to return at some point.
He’s averaging 14.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, and three blocks per game in 24 minutes per night, and while that is coming against obviously inferior competition to the NBA, it is likely coming against a similar competition level to the NBA Summer League. During his most recent game against (I kid you not) the Nanjing Tongxi Monkey King, he went for 22 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the CBA season.
Check out Fall’s highlights from his time in the Middle Kingdom in which he showed off his improved dribble-moves and mobility in spectacular fashion via Playmaker Hoops:
The Boston Celtics should be on Tacko Fall’s shortlist if he came back
If Tacko Fall ended up being the missing piece for the Boston Celtics in 2022-23, re-signing in valiant fashion as the team lacks a capable backup 5 even when Robert Williams III returns, the Houdini’s heart would be very happy.
Boston was the only team to give him more than a season of playing time, giving him a two-way contract originally in 2019 and playing him an NBA career-high 7 minutes per game in 19 appearances.
While the Cleveland Cavaliers signed Fall last summer, he ended up lasting until this past January before he was waived. Fall appeared in 11 games in ‘The Land’ for a team that was big-heavy outfit without a role for him.
If Fall was to bring his vastly improved game back to the states, the Boston Celtics deserve a first crack at him.
