Boston Celtics: Al Horford lauds veteran free agent addition
With the Boston Celtics down a few key bodies in the frontcourt, it’s important for those capable of suiting up to band together and form cohesion. Luckily, the Cs have a professional locker room and are experiencing that at this very moment.
Al Horford, the veteran whose presence immediately vaulted the Cs back into the NBA Finals in his first season back after two away, has spoken out publicly in support of one of the team’s frontcourt fill-ins.
That’d be none other than Blake Griffin, who had a stellar showing in his second appearance in Boston’s preseason victory over the Charlotte Hornets on October 7. In 16 minutes, Griffin had 7 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Horford heaped loads of praise onto the recent signee while speaking to the media on October 10:
The Boston Celtics got good injury news at the center position
While most Boston Celtics fans are likely hoping for a positive update on the return of Robert Williams III, HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto’s most recent update doesn’t make it sound like ‘The Timelord’ will beat the assigned 8-12 week timetable. Scotto reported that Williams sports a single crutch on the side where the knee (surgery) is and is basically using it as a big cane to support his walking. Scotto added that Williams is ‘walking pretty gingerly.’
Still, that isn’t to say there is no good news whatsoever. Luke Kornet, who recently sprained his ankle, is reportedly back at practice.
At least with Kornet back, Boston will have a semblance of order as it looks to build enough momentum to survive the absence of ‘The Timelord’ through the first few months of the 2022-23 season.
