Boston Celtics trade target Jae Crowder, who is also being pursued by several of his other former past teams, was called by FanNation’s Ben Stinar one of the best role players in the NBA for a while now in his latest aggregation of Stadium reporter Shams Charania’s appearance on ”The Rally.”
Charania appeared on BallySports’ ‘daily dose of sports & culture’ show co-hosted by Brooke Fletcher, Joshua Perry, and Russell Dorsey to update the NBA-viewing public on where Crowder might land — connecting the Miami Heat, Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavericks in addition to the Cs.
Crowder had a poor 2021-22 with Phoenix, starting 67 games but averaging under 10 points per game for a season for the first time since the 2017-18 season on 39/35/79 shooting splits. While his defense has been long been laudable, calling him one of the best role players in the Association is a questionable take at best.
And while Crowder would undoubtedly provide some much-needed frontcourt depth, as Sir Charles In Charge’s Michael Saenz pointed out, he’s not a likely addition in the coming days due to the fact that Derrick White would need to be included in the deal.
The Boston Celtics are long-shots to land Jae Crowder
It’s not impossible, but it’s not terribly likely, that Jae Crowder ends up on the Boston Celtics. Derrick White would require draft capital Phoenix isn’t in a position to give up, and the Suns aren’t waiting until December 15 to take on Danilo Gallinari’s deal.
In the meantime, Memphis could get aggressive by offering contracts like Dillon Brooks and Danny Green to get a deal done. Dallas could cobble together lower salary deals, but they can’t match a potential Grizzlies package. Miami is a long-shot due to having limited options to deal before December 15 themselves besides Duncan Robinson.
Hardwood Houdini would guess that Crowder will be a Grizzly.
