#2 Melo plays Me-Brand basketball not Team-Brand

The addition of Carmelo Anthony would negatively impact the Jays and the young core. The Celtics just pulled a 360-degree last year and pivoted away from your turn-my-turn isolation ball.

As a result, in the second half of the 2021-22 season, this C’s team became a top offense in terms of ball movement and player movement. They played with an incredible sense of pace too.

A 38-year-old, over-the-hill veteran who does not know his role will result in the offense being stalled out when he’s on the floor. He averaged a jarring one assist per game last year with the Lakers.

Melo, at his age, will not be able to complement the way the Cs like to play which is more in the open court. The Celtics are not built to be effective in a half-court setting with atrociously bad ball handling and a tendency to revert to an iso-heavy play style.

Getting Anthony to fill this hole on the roster is like downing ice cream when you have a fever. Wrong treatment for sure could have horrid results.

One cannot deny how efficient in a vacuum the former star can be, averages like 13.3 points per game on 47% on twos and 38% from three-point range are stellar, but when you factor in the lack of ball movement when he’s on the floor. I know he’s not Allen Iverson, but he’s not even close to the answer.
