Boston Celtics 2022-23 storyline No. 3: Sam Hauser’s emergence

A sleeper storyline as the new season looms for the Boston Celtics is the potential emergence of Sam Hauser. Hauser signed a three-year deal to stay with the C’s over the summer and now has quite the opportunity staring him in the face.

Boston his a hole in their bench now that Italian forward Danillo Gallinari has gone down with an ACL tear. Gallinari tore his ACL while playing for Italy earlier this summer. He was set to be a sharpshooting option off of the bench for the Celtics. Last year Gallo shot 38% from deep while playing for the Atlanta Hawks.

MassLive’s Brian Robb reported last week that the Boston Celtics would likely look internally to fill the void left by Gallinari.  Hauser is the perfect man to step in and fill that void.

If there’s one category that Hauser thrives in it’s shooting. He shot 43% from deep in 26 NBA appearances for Boston, and 40% over 13 appearances for G-League affiliate Maine. He may not have the 13 years of NBA experience that Gallinari has, but Hauser can shoot it for sure.

In today’s league teams really can’t ever have enough shooting. Should Hauser become comfortable playing spot minutes off of the bench, it will be valuable for sure come playoff time.
