In post-2009 journalism school academia, one is taught that social media, particularly Twitter, is one of the most important aspects of finding and breaking news. So with that in mind, perhaps there is some weight in Boston Celtics NBA First-Teamer Jayson Tatum liking a tweet supporting a potential Carmelo Anthony signing.

Tatum’s game borrows some from Melo’s as a combo forward willing to bang on the block for rebounds that will take over games offensively attacking from the triple threat position on either a physical rim-run–neither is the quickest at his position but compensates with a fast first-step and physicality–or a spot-up shot from anywhere on the floor.

This has yet to even mention the post-up brilliance of either. Fall-away shots, leaners, and up-and-unders are all apart of the bags Tatum and Anthony possess. Of course, Anthony was doing those moves while Tatum was in grade school, so to see them team up would ultimately be special.

The Boston Celtics would be the perfect team for Carmelo Anthony to win his first ring on

While most think of the Boston Celtics and Carmelo Anthony in the same thought and immediately reminisce about Kevin Garnett making a crude comment about Melo’s wife and Honey Nut Cheerios, in the modern day, the two make perfect sense for Anthony to win his first ring on.

Anthony’s greatest historical foe, LeBron James, is a Los Angeles Laker, and just failed to bring Melo a ring in Hollywood while he was wearing the purple and gold himself. Instead, the two suffered through one postseason series with just two playoff wins. What better way could Anthony prove LeBron was the problem than by turning around and winning a ring for the Lakers’ greatest historical rival.

And how about the New York Knicks? Melo wanted to come home when he forced a trade to the ‘Big Apple,’ but he was badly burned by the Phil Jackson regime in its dying days in 2017, and was ridiculed post-mortem even after being the only superstar that chose the Knicks for reasons under than ‘no one else will pay me that much.’

The Boston Celtics and Anthony, believe it or not, are perfect for each other on many levels from a narrative standpoint.
