Boston Celtics player No. 2) Grant Williams

Though the severity may not be as great, with the offseason moves made by this front office Grant Williams finds himself surrounded by much more competition heading into this year than he did in 2021-22.

Breaking onto the scene last year, the third-year pro worked his way into becoming an integral part of Ime Udoka’s scheme thanks to his ability to space the floor within the frontcourt, knocking down 3-pointers at a 41 percent clip from deep.

And while he certainly is deserving of keeping a sound role within the team’s rotation, we at HH can’t help but feel that the addition of Danilo Gallinari, in specific, will have somewhat of a negitive impact on his production.

While he did end up reaping the benefits of his extended play and increased role, one could argue that a major reason why he was put in this position in the first place was due to Boston’s lacking options, particularly at the four spot behind Al Horford.

At 6-10, Gallinari absolutely has the more desirable frame for the power forward position than Williams does, while his career averages of 15.6 points on 38 percent shooting from deep make him a far more intriguing offensive option to roll out as well.

Now, considering there still really isn’t all that much support behind Robert Williams, we could see the 23-year-old spending more time down at the five this season than he did last.

However, while offensively this could wind up being an intriguing idea, defensively it has the makings of disaster if used for long stints due to his lacking 6-6 size.

While we absolutely love Williams, don’t expect to see Williams having the type of season he did last year in 2022-23, for a lot of his production seemed to directly correlate with his extended time on the floor, which is something we anticipate will dwindle with the presence of Gallo.
