When the Boston Celtics opted to completely break up what remained of their 2008 championship core during both the 2012-13 (traded Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Nets) and 2013-14 (traded Rajon Rondo to the Mavericks) league years, many expected the franchise to fall into a long-lasting bottom dwelling abyss.

Generally speaking, when a franchise opts to embark on a full-fledged rebuild, it takes several years for them to climb their way out of said pit and back into a place of respectability.

The Celtics, however, have proven time and time again that they are not a typical organization.

This rebuild of theirs seemingly lasted no longer than a Mentos, as they jumped right back into the playoff picture after just a one-year absence from the big dance and have gone on to nab a top-8 slot in the standings ever since.

Throughout this time span, the ball club has seen a bevy of deep postseason runs, taking part in four Eastern Conference Finals appearances and, just last season, clinching their first Finals berth in over a decade.

Now, while a lot of this success could, and should be heavily chalked up to the high-end production put forth by franchise centerpieces in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, along the way we have seen a plethora of other quality talents come and go who have helped pave the way with their own specific skill sets as well.

For the large majority of these players of days past, we have nothing but love and admiration and hope to see them succeed with whatever the rest of their careers have in store for them.

In fact, there are 2 recent members of the franchise who, by the time the 2022-23 regular season rolls around, could wind up donning new threads for a different team’s rotation and, today, we predict where these ballers could wind up landing:
