Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens may one day regret going for broke in trying to create a Kevin Durant blockbuster — being as though it may cost the Cs a copacetic relationship with Jaylen Brown.

The NY Post’s Brian Lewis relayed that ‘after he responded on social media to his name coming up in trade rumors, there is a perception around the league that the revelation of Boston shopping him could plant seeds of discord.’

Lewis was expanding upon Heavy Sports’ Steve Bulpett’s report that Durant is going to sit down face-to-face with Nets owner Joe Tsai this week to determine if the 33-year-old will remain in Brooklyn or have his trade request honored this offseason.

An executive essentially told Bulpett that he only knows the meeting is happening and doesn’t know any details about what its purpose is:

"“I don’t know. I have no idea what’s going to come of that meeting. There are some things that KD is unhappy about, and I’m not sure any of that gets fixed here. But maybe it does.”"

Shams Charania reports that Jaylen Brown is happy with the Boston Celtics

If Kevin Durant’s unhappiness ends up causing unhappiness between Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics, and KD ends up back in Brooklyn thriving with Kyrie Irving and the Nets, that’d be some serious four-dimensional chess being played in NYC.

Unfortunately, the king looks like it’s ready to take down the rook, as Shams Charania is reporting that there is in fact no friction between Brown and the Boston Celtics. In fact, Brown “loves it in Boston” and is “looking forward to coming back.”

So in one corner, you have Charania hopping on NBC Sports Boston’s Early Edition and potentially sunshine pumping Celtics fans, and in the other, you have essentially hearsay from a New York reporter with unnamed sources around the league painting a bleak picture.

The coming weeks should decide where the truth lies.
