Team that could outbid Boston Celtics No. 3) New Orleans Pelicans

In all honesty, we’re not quite sure why the Boston Celtics are viewed as the team that could offer up the best package for Kevin Durant when the New Orleans Pelicans are still out there.

Now sure, as we said earlier on, Jaylen Brown may be the best individual player the Nets could wind up acquiring in any potential transactions involving their superstar, but, outside of him, the C’s are seemingly void of anything substantial that Marks could desire, particularly when it comes to draft picks.

NOLA, on the other hand, has their own quality young star wing while also possessing a treasure trove of draft capital as well that they could package together.

Brandon Ingram, though perhaps not as highly revered as Brown (at least, not to us anyway), is still a high-caliber type of player who, just last season, posted a stellar stat-line of 22.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game while guiding his team to their first playoff berth in four years.

Viewed as a prospect similar to Durant when coming into the league back in 2016 what with his specific skill set and physical build, the swap could actually do wonders for both parties, as it would create a win-now Big 3 of KD, Zion Williamson, and CJ McCollum in New Orleans (a team who generally struggles just to stay relevant) while allowing the Nets to remain competitive in the now as well as moving forward (let’s not forget, Ingram is still only 24 years old).

On top of all this, the Pelicans could give up an obscene amount of picks in the process and still have plenty remaining, as they hold the rights to six first-rounders outside of their own through 2027 thanks to both the Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday blockbusters of years past.

Of course, recent rumblings are indicating that David Griffin is not all that open to breaking the bank for Kevin Durant, as Ingram’s name has yet to be put on the table in any discussions.

Having said that, there’s likely plenty of time between now and when the megastar is actually going to be traded and, during this stretch, many things could wind up changing, including the front office’s stance on Ingram being involved.

If NOLA really wanted to, they could easily piece together the best trade package for KD without question.
