The local media is trying to create and perpetuate a rift between the Boston Celtics fans and Jaylen Brown. A largely fictional one, when you consider a majority of the C’s faithful followers would not bear to part with the blossoming 25-year-old.

The 2021 All-Star just had one of his best regular seasons and playoff campaigns in his young career, where he averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game on 54 percent shooting on two’s, 36 percent shooting on three’s, and 76 percent from the foul line on the season.

In the postseason, the young shooting guard’s game elevated tremendously. There were times when he looked like the best player on the floor for the green team, which is saying something considering they also have Jayson Tatum in tow.

What an absolute luxury for any contending team to have: two stars capable of taking over a game on both ends.

In 24 playoff games, Brown maintained this consistent level of play averaging near identical numbers whilst raising his 3-point percentage to 37 percent on a high volume of seven attempts per contest.

One glaring weakness in his game remains his tendency to get careless with valuing the possession of the basketball. This leads to costly turnovers from overdribbling or sloppy passes.

I would counter-argue that giveaways are a team problem as much as they are an individual issue on Brown’s end.

Frankly, the coach needs to put the Jays in better situations offensively.

They should not harbor the bulk of ball-handling duties that should be reserved for the bevy of guards on the roster. The massive addition of a fringe star in Malcolm Brogdon should help in this respect.

The former Pacer will join the likes of Smart, White, and Pritchard.

Despite their added firepower this offseason, however, the Boston Celtics should absolutely be looking to keep the likes of Brown happy and, frankly, in tow moving forward. With this in mind, here are three reasons why the Boston Celtics will keep Jaylen Brown for the long haul:
