Despite the fact that they had the league’s biggest Traded Player Exception with an overall value of $17.1M, once the clock struck midnight heading into Tuesday, July 18th, the Boston Celtics made the decision to not acquire a player via this luxury and, instead, opted to let it simply expire.

To some, this whole ordeal proved to be quite a let-down and, in some ways, a major disappointment as it was widely believed that, despite the savvy moves already made by Brad Stevens and co. this summer, Boston’s rotation could still use some extra talents to help plug in the remaining holes within their rotation, and many believed that their lofty TPE could have been a perfect way to address these areas.
