After months of non-stop discussions, Monday officially marks the final day that the Boston Celtics can actually use their illustrious $17.1 million TPE.

Acquired last offseason via the Evan Fournier sign-and-trade with the New York Knicks,  the C’s have been a team seemingly on the verge of making a deal using the exception since that fateful July day back in 2021.

That said, league rules only allow these types of luxuries to last for up to a year, and, should they not be used up in time, they’ll ultimately end up dissolving and become obsolete.

July 18th is the expiration for the oft-buzzed about Fournier TPE and, to this point, Brad Stevens and co. have yet to make any use of it.

Having said that, they have until the end of the day to decide its fate and, though many are of the belief that the Celtics don’t need to add anything else to their roster at this point in time thanks to their tremendous start to the offseason, we at the Houdini believe that there are still a few holes that could use for some filling, and this exception could serve as a way for them to de exactly that.

Since receiving the TPE, fans have seen a myriad of targets deemed as worthy of a pursuit by the C’s front office and, though the majority of these top-billed talents have been taken off the market, there are still a few interesting players that might still be available for the right price.
