Biggest Boston Celtics hole No. 2) An actual backup wing

For years now, the Boston Celtics have tried and subsequently failed time and time again to bring on a player who can serve as a trusty backup to both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown out on the wing.

From utilizing lottery picks to snag talents at the position to striking trade-deadline deals for an already established player, to this point in time it appears that all the front office has really done is constantly swing and constantly miss.

Now, though they did manage to sign veteran forward Danilo Gallinari to a two-year deal this offseason, considering he’s more of a three/ four and not a two/ three, there’s an argument to be made that the front office should still be interested in looking for someone who can fill this type of role, particularly on the open market.

Though pickings are undoubtedly slim what with the fact that we’re nearly two weeks into free agency, there are still some intriguing names that remain unsigned.

Perhaps the most noteworthy player still available at the position is the 10-year veteran, Jeremy Lamb, who, in the past, we’ve deemed as being a quality fit within Boston’s rotation due to his sound on and off-ball scoring abilities and solid defensive chops.

That said, there are a few other names such as Kent Bazemore and Tony Snell found in free agency who could also likely be brought aboard at a rather minimal cost.
