The Boston Celtics have been the team that has garnered the most attention this offseason thanks to their numerous roster bolstering moves, but, unfortunately, even their tremendous efforts cannot seem to take the top spot within the news circuit over Kevin Durant‘s reported desires to play elsewhere next season.
Last week, the sports world was treated to a report for the ages, as The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the megastar wing has requested a trade out of Brooklyn after three lackluster seasons spent in the borough.
Naturally, with any player of this caliber reportedly on the market, all people can seem to talk about is what teams he could wind up being dealt to and what kind of package will it take to land him.
Though to some, the belief is that the Boston Celtics possess the most desirable offer that can be sent in Brooklyn’s direction (a deal centered around Jaylen Brown), the consensus opinion amongst the franchise’s loyal fanbase is that, though the front office could make a blockbuster trade happen they should focus on keeping hold of their young core that just made it to within two games of winning the 2022 NBA Finals.
Having said that, just because the C’s may want to steer clear of acquiring Durant, this is not to say that they shouldn’t be interested in taking part in a deal involving him.
As fate would have it, Boston still holds the rights to several highly valuable Traded Player Exceptions, which means that they could easily find themselves partaking in potential upcoming trades involving KD to make the money work by absorbing some unwanted contracts.
Should this happen, we at HH believe Brad Stevens and co. should strongly consider targeting 2 specific players from a couple of the star’s possible landing spots:
