LaMarcus Aldridge
The mid-range maestro, LaMarcus Aldridge has been making a living on that shot for 16 years. The former All-Star big man has over 72 games of playoff experience. A concerning heart condition and blood clots put a halt to his borderline Hall of Fame career, but his love for basketball could not keep off the hardwood.
The Boston Celtics could use a guy that has unfinished business with this game and can absolutely provide the experience, leadership, and viable big man depth in a joint effort for a ring and a banner.
He latched himself onto a supposed “superteam” with the Brooklyn Nets but we all know how that disaster ended. An underlining subplot is that a player of LA’s caliber was lost in the rotation and racking up DNPs the whole second half of the season.
Aldridge could absolutely provide 10-15 minutes of steady play and be a potential secret weapon with his smooth offensive bag. In 47 games with the Nets, he averaged 12.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and a block per game on 55% shooting and 87% from the stripe.
This man has been a notable Celtic killer for a long time and it is time to put an end to that narrative. Imagine if the Miami Heat or Milwaukee Bucks were to scoop him up on the cheap when he could be the piece they are missing to having formidable depth at every position.
The Boston Celtics as it stands are 10 deep, but I say keep going the idea of having playable guys all across the bench is enamoring when injury inevitably strikes.
