Boston Celtics reason No. 3: Price

Given his age and recent injury, Joe Ingles’s value is at an all-time low. With that being said, I personally think the Boston Celtics could get him on the veteran minimum, which will be capped at just over $2.8 million.

There’s been plenty of rumors that Ingles may want to return to the Jazz, but given they are on the downswing and the C’s are on the upswing, signing with Boston would make a lot more sense if he wants to win a ring before returning to play in Australia or retiring fully.

If the C’s could get Ingles on a vet minimum, that would be huge as they’d be getting a guy who just a season ago finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting without using any assets, like the taxpayer Mid-Level Exception for example (about a $6.5 million exception for a free agent).

While Ingles may be past his prime, I believe it would most certainly be worth getting him on the vet minimum, given his veteran leadership, balanced skillset, cheap price, and the high probability he could bounce back from his injury and return at least close to an elite bench-option level of production.
