3 reasons why the Boston Celtics could be on the brink of a dynasty
Reason No. 3) The young core has Finals experience
LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown–all great players who have led their team to the NBA Finals and all players who lost their first NBA Finals.
Even though the Boston Celtics lost, I still think they were the better team on the court, but Golden State was the stronger team mentally. The reason for this is because the Warriors have been there before, time and time again.
All throughout the playoffs, Boston did a great job protecting the ball and limiting the number of turnovers they had per game. However, in the Finals, where it really counted, they struggled and seemed to turn the ball over on every possession.
The Dubs were a much more composed team and their Finals experience showed right from the get-go. Prior to Game 1, Golden State as a whole had 123 games of championship-round experience while the Celtics had zero.
When it comes to playing in such a high-pressure series like the Finals, having experience is something that you can’t teach.
The young core of the Boston Celtics now has valuable experience that they can carry over for years to come. They saw the lowest of lows and the highest of highs throughout the 2021-22 campaign. They know how to navigate through injuries late in the year and how to just put their head down and push even harder when the time matters most.
LeBron James and Kevin Durant are both great players and, thanks to their Finals experience, whenever they make the big stage, they know how to stay level-headed and not let the lights become too bright for them.
The next time Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are here, I’m confident that they will be more comfortable and the outcome of the series will be favorable for them.
